About NYIC
New York Indian Council (NYIC) is a non-profit Urban Indian Organization (UIO) operating under Title V of the Indian Health Care Improvement Act (IHCIA), and supported by the Indian Health Service (IHS). We serve Urban Indians—American Indian and Alaska Native individuals—residing in New York City.
NYIC provides culturally relevant health education, case management, referrals, and supportive services. Governed by a board composed of a majority American Indian and Alaska Native members, our work is deeply rooted in the principles of community, respect, and self-determination.
As one of over 40 Urban Indian Organizations across the U.S., we are proud to address the unmet needs of Native populations living in urban areas, with a focus on dignity, cultural identity, and health equity.
Our Mission
To improve the health and well-being of American Indian and Alaska Native people living in New York City through culturally grounded, accessible, and equitable healthcare services.
Our Vision
A thriving urban Native community in New York City empowered by wellness, cultural pride, and access to holistic care.
